Health is the first and most important human need that determines one’s ability to work and ensures the harmonious development of one’s personality. It is the most important prerequisite for learning about the world around us, for self-affirmation and human happiness.
A healthy lifestyle is an individual system of human behavior that ensures physical, mental and social well-being in the real environment (natural, man-made and social) and active longevity, creates the best conditions for the normal course of physiological and mental processes, which reduces the likelihood of various diseases and increases human life expectancy.
A healthy lifestyle helps us meet our goals and objectives, successfully implement our plans, and cope with difficulties.
There are three types of health: physical, mental and moral (social):
Physical health is a natural state of the body due to the normal functioning of all its organs and systems. If all the organs and systems work well, then the whole human body (self-regulating system) functions properly and develops.
Mental health depends on the condition of the brain, it is characterized by the level and quality of thinking, the development of attention and memory, the degree of emotional stability, the development of volitional qualities.
Moral health is determined by those moral principles that are the basis of human social life, i.e. life in a certain human society. The hallmarks of a person’s moral health are, first and foremost, a conscious attitude to work, mastering the treasures of culture, active rejection of morals and habits that contradict the normal way of life. Therefore, social health is considered the highest measure of human health. Morally healthy people have a number of universal qualities that make them real citizens.
Basics of a Healthy Lifestyle
A healthy lifestyle consists of the following main elements: productive work, a rational regime of work and rest, elimination of bad habits, optimal movement regime, personal hygiene, hardening, rational nutrition, etc.
Fruitful work is an important element of a healthy lifestyle. Human health is influenced by biological and social factors, the main of which is work.
Rational regime of work and rest is a necessary element of a healthy lifestyle. Correct and strictly observed regime develops a clear and necessary rhythm of the body, which creates optimal conditions for work and rest, and thus promotes health, improvement of efficiency and increase labor productivity.
Proper alternation of workload and rest is the basis for a person’s high capacity for work. Rest is a state of rest or active activity, leading to the restoration of strength and performance. The most important type of daily rest refers to sleep. Without sufficient, normal sleep is unthinkable human health. The need for sleep depends on age, lifestyle, and the type of nervous system. Sleep, above all, contributes to the normal activity of the central nervous system. Lack of sleep, especially systematic, leads to fatigue, exhaustion of the nervous system, to disease. Sleep can not be replaced by anything, it is not compensated by anything. Compliance with the sleep regime is the basis for a healthy lifestyle. To be healthy and efficient, you must develop the habit of going to bed and getting up at the same time, learn to fall asleep quickly and sleep soundly.
The next link in a healthy lifestyle is to eliminate bad habits (smoking, alcohol and drugs). These are the cause of many diseases, dramatically reducing life expectancy, reduce efficiency, adversely affect the health of the younger generation and the health of future children.
Rational nutrition. Nutrients necessary for the body are divided into six main types: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. To eat well means to get with food in sufficient quantity and in the right combination all that the body needs. Remember the two basic laws, the violation of which is dangerous to health.
The first law is a balance of energy intake and expenditure. If the body takes in more energy than it takes out, that is, if we take in more food than is needed for normal human development, for work and well-being, we get fat. Now more than a third of our country, including children, is overweight. And the reason is the same – excessive food, which eventually leads to catherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, a number of other diseases.
The second law – the correspondence of the chemical composition of the diet to the physiological needs of the body in nutrients. Nutrition should be varied and provide the needs for protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber. Many of these substances are essential, because they are not formed in the body, and comes only with food. The lack of at least one of them, for example, vitamin C, leads to illness and even death. B vitamins we get mainly with cornmeal bread, and a source of vitamin A and other fat-soluble vitamins are dairy products, fish oil, liver.
Optimal exercise regime – the most important condition for a healthy lifestyle. Its basis is a systematic exercise and sports, effectively solving the problems of strengthening health and development of physical abilities of young people, the preservation of health and motor skills, enhancing the prevention of adverse age-related changes. At the same time, physical education and sport are the most important means of education.
It is useful to walk up and down stairs without using the elevator. According to American doctors each step gives a person 4 seconds of life. Seventy steps burn 28 calories.
Hardening is a powerful health-improving tool. It allows to avoid many illnesses, to prolong life for many years, to keep a high capacity for work. Hardening has a restorative effect on the body, tones the nervous system, improves blood circulation, and normalizes metabolism.
Personal Hygiene – it includes a rational daily routine, body care, hygiene clothing and shoes. Of particular importance is the regime of the day. If it is observed correctly and strictly, a clear rhythm of body functioning is obtained. And this, in turn, creates the best conditions for work and recovery.
